A Case of Malignant Melanoma of the Choroid

Abstract

|
We recently experienced a case of malignant melanoma of choroid in 21 year old female who has visited our clinic due to complaint of decreasing visual acuity. In fundus examination, we observed a well circumscribed dark brown colored elevated intraocular mass with surrounding retinal detachment. It was impressed a choroidal malignant melanoma with typical ultrasonographic findings. It was confirmed as a choroidal malignant melanoma with histopathologic study after enucleation.
As shown above case, an ocular ultrasonography is very useful in the diagnosis of the malignant melanoma of choroid.
